Charitable Giving. Our 5 year goal is $5,000,000

Overflow Cafe cares about people. Both in our local community and people around the world. We've always been a giving company. As we continue to expand our company, we continue to expand our giving. The following is a list of causes we regularly give towards, and we plan on giving $5 Million over the next 5 years.

Water:  Much of the world doesn't have access to clean water, especially in third world countries. We give towards the digging of fresh water wells, irrigation systems, sanitation systems and any sustainable water solution. If you can give an entire village water, you can transform that entire village. They can plant crops, raise livestock and in turn help other villages.

Canadian and American homeless: There are an estimated 200,000 homeless people in Canada and 750,000 homeless people in America. At least 1/4 of them are children. We give towards organizations that provide food, supplies and sustainable solutions for homeless including affordable housing and continuing education.

Orphans: There are a lot of orphans in the world, and although we wish it wasn’t so, we are doing our part to fund the building, renovation and funding of orphanages around the world so that while children are there, they are well loved, well provided for and will have a chance at a great future.

After school programs: Statistics show that youth in America and Canada are most likely to try drugs or commit crimes between 3pm and 6pm, which is the window of time between after school and before their parents come home. We support after school programs that will provide tutoring, games, supervision and most importantly mentoring for high school aged children.

Anti-slave trade: Every year an estimated 500,000 young men and women (many of them just children) are kidnapped and forced into illegal trades. Most are drugged and taken advantage of hundreds of times and contract many medical problems. We give towards grass roots organizations that rescue these people and help to end this situation once and for all.

Emergency medical: For the cost of a few cups of coffee you can provide emergency medical treatment for a person in a third world country that will save their vision or prevent a life threatening illness. And for the price of a large 3 bedroom American family home you can provide a heart transplant for a young child. We participate in both kinds of projects and everything in between.

College Funds: This is a brand new program for us. We give college grants to students in the USA and Canada.

Single Parents: There are a lot of single moms and dads in this world. They need help for continuing education, daycare assistance and access to support groups.

Other: We believe in helping as much as we can, so the above is not a complete list. We are always giving more and improving the way we give and getting better results. Our employees are deeply involved in our giving decisions and we oftentimes ask our clients about what causes are important to them. We don’t just give money, we give our time and prayers. All Overflow employees are required to do volunteer work at least once per month for an organization of their choice.
